Marjorie Mangibat Apguid is a 27-year-old Filipina from Banayoyo, Ilocos Sur. She is a single mother blessed with one child who is now 8 years old. Marjorie is the eldest among three siblings, with one younger brother and one younger sister. Her father, 48 years old, works as a farmer, while her 47-year-old mother is employed as a cashier in a grocery store. Being the eldest child in the family, Marjorie learned to be responsible and hardworking at a young age. Her experiences both as a daughter and a mother have helped shape her into a patient, caring, and dependable individual. She completed her secondary education at Banayoyo National High School in 2015. After graduating from high school, Marjorie pursued higher education and enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education program. She was able to study until her third year in college but was unable to complete her degree due to financial difficulties within the family. Despite this challenge, Marjorie remained determined to support her child and family by seeking employment and gaining work experience. Marjorie has both domestic and non-domestic work experience that has helped her develop valuable skills in household management and caregiving. She worked as a storekeeper from August 2019 to January 2020, where she was responsible for maintaining store inventory, organizing products, and assisting customers. Currently, she is working as a cashier in a grocery store, a position she has held since February 2020 while patiently waiting for an opportunity to work abroad in Singapore. In addition to her local employment, Marjorie also gained experience working as a household helper in the Philippines. From 2015 to 2018, she was employed by a Filipino family living in a three-bedroom bungalow house with a couple, a 69-year-old female elder who was bedridden, and two children aged 13 and 8. The household had two helpers, and Marjorie’s main responsibility was to care for the elderly woman. Her duties included assisting with personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, administering medication, and ensuring the elder’s comfort and safety at all times. From December 2018 to August 2019, she worked for another Filipino family living in a six-bedroom, two-storey house with a couple and their two children aged 9 years old and a 4-month-old baby. There were two helpers in the household, and Marjorie’s primary responsibility was caring for the infant. She focused on the baby’s daily needs such as feeding, bathing, changing clothes, and ensuring the baby’s safety and comfort. When the baby was asleep, she would assist in supervising the older child and help with tasks such as washing and organizing the baby’s clothes. As a mother herself, Marjorie is confident and knowledgeable in caring for newborns, infants, and young children. She understands the importance of providing proper attention, care, and a safe environment for children. She is capable of feeding, bathing, grooming, and engaging children in play and learning activities that support their development. Marjorie can cook simple Filipino dishes and is eager to learn how to prepare other cuisines to suit her future employer’s preferences. She is willing to follow recipes and instructions carefully. Aside from childcare and elderly care, she is also capable of performing general household duties such as cleaning, laundry, ironing, and home organization. She is also willing to assist with car washing, pet care, and gardening. Marjorie is known to be hardworking, patient, and eager to learn. Her determination to support her child and family motivates her to work diligently and responsibly. Upon selection, she will undergo a one-week in-house private training in Manila accredited by TESDA, followed by an OWWA orientation seminar before the processing of her Overseas Employment Certificate for deployment.
